Ottawa Job of the Day: Graphic Designer at Envision Online

This is your chance to change the face of the web, one site at a time. Envision Online is hiring one great designer who will provide original site designs and other graphics work for the web. If you have 3+ years of experience creating original designs for CMS-driven sites it could be you!

Deeply versed in user experience and user interface design, your websites are as easy to use as they are on the eyes. Your knowledge includes CSS, HTML and how a site’s moving parts work together.

You’ve come a long way since you got your design diploma. Now you’re a leader in design: highly active in the design community, your design tweets or blog posts are highly sought after. Maybe you’re even an RGD.

You’re definitely a professional when it comes to meeting deadlines and making presentations. Design is about communication, and you are a great communicator about design, relishing the opportunity to articulate your design decisions to non-designers, including clients. But when clients want to make design changes you’re understanding and accommodating, because after all it’s their baby too.

You have vision, but in the end you love what can happen in a highly collaborative environment.

Ottawa Job of the Day: Editorial Internships with Ottawa Magazine

The Ottawa office of St. Joseph Media, which publishes Ottawa Magazine (a city magazine) and Where Ottawa Magazine (a tourism magazine), is now accepting unpaid internship applications from university or college graduates for November/December 2012 and January 2013.

Editorial interns are involved in many aspects of production of the magazines. They receive hands-on experience researching, interviewing, fact-checking, proof reading, and writing for print and/or web. Each intern works closely with the editors and is encouraged to generate ideas for the magazines/websites. An interest in, and enthusiasm for, Ottawa and its people, events, and culture are a must. Candidates should also have excellent oral and written communication skills, be extremely creative, highly organized, and incredibly attentive to detail.

We are also looking for two interns for two- or three-day internships (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) for January/February 2013.

These internships are unpaid, however they offer new graduates the opportunity to see what the magazine industry in Ottawa is like and the work that goes into publishing magazines. They will work on magazine issues at their various stages and also get opportunities to write and get clippings (print and/or online) to add to their portfolios.
